InnoToolkit

BECOME OUR BOOK BFF. In this alpha test, we are experimenting with the methods and impact of crowd-enabled social commerce. To do so, we need to recruit about 100 volunteer "superfans" - or what we call in this campaign a "BFF" - a Book Best Friend. As part of this, we'll ask you to buy a copy of the book and then blitz it – this means you promise to spread the word about this book, campaign and associated offerings - we'll send you short blurbs, tweets and articles about the book that you could use on your newsletter, Twitter feed, Facebook feed and your blog. Also, we'll ask you to do things like move as a coordinated pack to Amazon to enter reviews, so we can measure the impact of this. The test will last several weeks, and by the end of this, we'll know much better how to make the Crowdlaunch system much more effective.

In return, you will receive the following rewards for your valuable support in behalf of the book: An autographed copy of the book, with our heartfelt thanks. Our gift of a complete innovation toolkit and library with books, tutorials, templates and instructional video – worth over $300.

A chance to win a free pass to our $1200 two-day Agile Innovation Workshop, to be held later this year in San Francisco (by the way, if you want to become certified as an Agile Innovation trainer, this is the first step). Finally, you'll be asked to join our associated affiliate program, which can earn you a $200+ commission for each referral who signs up for one of our Agile Innovation workshops – so recommending our book could lead to a nice check for you as a reward

BESTIES FOREVER. There's one more perk of becoming our book BFF – the authors are the co-founders of Crowdlaunch.it and make this promise to you: if you help us now as a founding Book BFF, we promise to feature your book or new product when you’re ready to launch it! This is because being best friends works both ways – in return for your support now, we commit to apply our resources to help you in the future. That’s right, this is how you can insure that your future crowdlaunch will be featured on the home page and given an “inside track”.

Participating in Crowdlaunch.it is an opportunity to change the world by helping creative, innovative people - like YOU - succeed. The simple reality is that product launches are hard. So your forthcoming book or workshop or teleseminar or art show or dance recital or non-profit or anything else you envision needs a platform to bring it to the world, and this is exactly what crowdlaunch can do - make it easier for you to create your own platform to launch your products. We estimate that it takes somewhere between 100 and 500 BFFs to launch a book successfully, so we're willing to bend over backwards to make this "an offer you can't refuse” - because we really need your help to figure this stuff out.

Why this Matters

More than anything else, innovation is the factor that lifts an economy and creates job. It is the combination of science, technology and innovation that has lifted the economies of third world countries so much that global poverty is now at its lowest level in the history of humanity. Innovation is priceless, one of the great treasures of human knowledge. If every human being read a book about how to innovate better, it would improve the world in a transformational way. Here is your chance to accelerate a transformational shift in the world.

Consider this thought experiment… if we could ensure the sales of 5-10,000 copies in pre-orders for this book, it could propel this book into a bestseller, meaning it will sells maybe 50-100,000 copies. In studies, Agile process has been measured improving software development efficiency by up to 50%. This book is about applying similar processes throughout the organization, to unleash the core creativity hidden deep within companies. If 10,000 of our readers adopted the innovation techniques we teach in the book at their companies - and these new processes increased profitability and effectiveness by just 5% - and with a national average of 20 employees per firm - this would yield a potential of 10,000 new jobs.

This means that by committing $25 now in this crowdlaunch, it is conceivable that you could help cause the creation of a job in the future that would change someone's life for the better. And more than 50 global experts, professors, venture capitalists and CEOs, have provided advance praise for the book and testimonials that this book is a game changer in the world of innovation. The power to make a difference is in your hands right now, because joining this campaign accelerates humanity's journey to a better tomorrow.

Nothing has been written about more in the business world over the last decade than Innovation. However, the authors have brought something quite new to the discussion by weaving together many of the threads into a complex and colorful fabric that will aid any organization in fostering and utilizing innovation to grow and prosper. Their prescriptions are not facile nor for the faint of heart, but will resonate with those open enough to critically examine their own circumstances. This idea- packed book will provide valuable lessons for those thoughtful business leaders who realize, as the authors note, that the risks of innovation are far less than the risks of not innovating. - Elliot E. Maxwell, Member, National Research Council Board on Research Data and Information, formerly Special Advisor on the Digital Economy to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Director of the Internet Policy Project at the Aspen Institute.

Today's corporate leaders must build a culture of agile innovation and this book is the perfect manual for business today.
- Harry W. Kellogg, Vice Chairman, SVB Silicon Valley Bank
Morris, Ma and Wu have taken what are on reflection two blindingly obvious bedfellows and put them together in a story that makes sense, and just as important, is a fascinating read. The Agile Innovation concept is not just a good one for start-ups to consider in order to set themselves up to innovate in a sustainable manner that fosters long-term competitive advantage. It also presents a disciplined approach for managing what a great many large corporations currently do not manage well. It should offer confidence to the management of even the biggest behemoth that innovation can be nurtured in a manner that fosters rapid evolution of ideas while ensuring that good risk controls are in place. While the book is right to highlight that most of the significant innovations throughout history were born of great adversity, it presents a comfortingly implementable framework within which to foster and facilitate innovation on an on-going basis ... without the need for a life-threatening crisis every time.
- Larry Campbell, Knowledge management expert
Innovation is too often discussed in the abstract, almost as a spiritual totem. The authors of Agile Innovation de-mystify innovation, and lay out a thoughtful road map for readers to understand how to create innovative organizations. The methodology applies as well to large organizations as start ups and should be on the reading list of anyone who wants to prepare their companies for the rest of the 21st century. All our portfolio companies will certainly receive a copy!
- Gary Rieschel, Founder and Managing Director , Qiming Venture Partners
Finally, here's a book that pulls far away from the me-too peloton of innovation tomes. Enlightening, energizing and execution-oriented, Agile Innovation should be at the top of the reading list for professional services firms leaders?and anyone else who needs to innovate faster, better and in a way that uniquely suits them.
- Andrew Dietz, CEO of Creative Growth and Author of The Opening Playbook: A Professional's Guide To Building Relationships That Grow Revenue
In their book, Agile Innovation, Morris, Ma and Wu showcase many important techniques used by the most innovative and successful businesses. We are leaving an era where strong brands could protect stagnant products, and entering one where only rapidly adapting companies can survive. Frequent and disciplined market measurement, experimentation and adaptation can drive even large companies to innovate successfully and profitably. This book provides many useful tools to win new markets and keep existing ones, in the face of fierce competition.
-Daniel R Greening, PhD,Managing Director Senex Rex
We are in a period of hyper-innovation. On a nearly daily basis, new company ideas are introduced to us as VCs, and new products and services are introduced to the market. Competitive ideas and efforts --which become the seeds of many companies' success or failure--are being introduced nearly every moment. The authors of Agile Innovation with their rich and relevant experience do a good job of explaining what happens during this process; what leads to effective innovation. This book is an excellent framework for a world-sweeping force.
- Tom Toy, Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist
Agile Innovation is an essential survival guide for businesses large and small in what is an ever-changing but always fiercely competitive innovate or die environment. Co-authors Langdon Morris, Moses Ma and Po Chi Woo bring their collective experience in strategic consulting, high technology entrepreneurship and venture capital investment to bear in a clear and thought-provoking synthesis of the principles of Agile development that have revolutionized software development, and extrapolate them to a set of best practices for innovation generally. They exhort business leaders to become their own revolutionaries in the fomenting of innovation within their organizations. And the authors demonstrate, with pointed examples, how business leaders can learn how to stimulate visionary ideas, validate them with customers, rapidly iterated on them, and translate them into actions that deliver durable customer value and, in the process, transform the very culture of innovation within their organizations.
- Gordon Davidson, Fenwick & West

Agile Innovation is an excellent read and incorporates many of the insights and fundamental truths about the role of innovation in a world of shifting paradigms; a world which puts a premium on those organizations who have created cultures which champion continuous disruptive breakthroughs and do not rest on past achievements and laurels. In our many years of financing innovation, Silicon Valley Bank has learned that innovation is a truly global phenomenon and lack of constant innovating, has sounded the deathknell of many successful companies. Even in recessions innovation leads the way to recovery. Agile Innovation provides a clear process and roadmap on how an organization must think, organize and execute at every level in order to survive and excel.
- Mike Yahng,Chief Officer of Strategic Alliances SPD Silicon Valley Bank
Agile Innovation is a book that is written in a style consistent to the content, the book itself embodies agile innovation. As innovation itself is about harnessing the human intellectual activities in response to change, and the challenge is commonly about the lack of mental freedom due to the individual and group restrictions, the application of agile in innovation is such a natural fit. This book provides wisdom, framework, process and tools that guide people accomplish great innovation results through collaboration, quick response to change, and iterative working philosophy. It's really an enjoyable learning experience to read the large amount of stories and case studies. A great book about learning and implementing innovation.

- Fabin Szulanski, Director,Learning Lab ,Instituto Tecnol'gico de Buenos Aires.
Given my 8 months traveling around the world each year for over a decade on VC/VC and startups on research and teaching in over 15 countries, the authors, Langdon Morris, Moses Ma and Po Chi Wu, provide the essence of Agile Innovation in a crisp, yet practical way that is valid in emerging and mature markets for all the three key stakeholders in the ecosystem: (1) Investors: Angel/VC/CVC; (2) Corporates: leaders/collaborators/customers; and (3) Entrepreneurs: first-time/mature, who commercialize innovation in their own new ways. This book complements the recent bestsellers in the field of startups and commercialization, including 'The Lean Startup' (Eric Ries), 'Four Steps to Epiphany' & 'The Startup Owner's Manual' (Steve Blank), 'Business Model Generation' (Alex Osterwalder), and Chinnovation (Yinglan Tan), by taking the mystery out in describing a proven, disciplined process that really works. This is a comprehensive, thought-provoking guide that shows the process for large corporates to look at the strategy, structure and organization/people to focus on 'Innovate, Collaborate or Die'. What impressed me most are the powerful ways to reduce risk during the product innovation phase and the highly efficient, fluid management philosophy. Both of these are critically important, especially for projects that have high-growth potential!
- Martin Haemmig, Adjunct professor at CeTIM and former 'Senior Advisor on Venture Capital' for Stanford University (SPRIE) ,launched the Venture Capital Community at the World Economic Forum
Agile is a well-known terminology which has been applied to almost all enterprise operation areas. While reading the new book agile innovation written by Langdon Morris, Moses Ma, and Po Chi Wu, my thinking fluently links the in-depth innovation concepts back to his previous works such as permanent innovation and innovation master plan. As an enterprise management and innovation coach across Taiwan straits, and as my expertise is focused on lean and lean is as important as agile in nowadays enterprise operation and innovation management, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Langdon for all his great inspiring works.
- Justin Lin PhD, Chaoyang University of Technology, Taiwan
Langdon Morris has done it again. He continues to turn out work in innovation that is sensible and valuable. He, Moses Ma, and Po Chi Wu have together produced Agile Innovation when it is most needed by the market. - Christie Deydier, Corporate Learning and Development Director Gemalto
Agile Innovation is a must read for every entrepreneur, innovator, corporate executives navigating in today's dynamic and uncertain markets. The authors have taken a concept usually associated with software engineering and expertly applied the ideas behind Agile methodology to many relevant business cases in a sharp, bold, and concise manner. Agile manifesto started out in 2001 in response to a changing world where complex software projects fail. In many respects, the world has stay complex, and software is embedded everywhere so it is timely that Langdon Morris, Moses Ma and Po Chi Wu have mapped the concepts behind Agile to more generalized business situations and stimulate readers to rethink their business organizations, and how they can navigate in the sea of change.
-Dr. Virginia Cha, Chief Research , Institute of Systems Science, National University of Singapore, Adjunct Professor, INSEAD and Member of Council on Fostering Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum (2012-2014)
The authors have created a book broad in scope yet detailed enough to give everyone a source of knowledge and practical tools to help them drive innovation in their organizations. Combined with real world examples this book introduces and gives the guidance needed to let anyone start and travel well down the road to facing the innovation challenge we all today. It is refreshing to see the solid combination of the technical and the people side combined into one approachable text. The sections on encouraging people and creating the right kind of culture should be required reading for anyone in a medium to large size organization seeking to make the critical changes need for survival in this quickly changing business environment.

- Tomiwa Adefokun, Founder innovate.ng
Agile Innovation is a must read, as it teaches us to be original, nimble, daring, committed and forward-thinking to create successful innovations - qualities that most organizations forget at one point or another, leading to their eventual demise. - Sanjay B Dalal, CEO oGoing.com, USA's Small Business Social Network
Innovation is about new combinations that address customer needs and create value. This book is a good example. The concept of Agile has been around for more than ten years. It is the linkage with innovation that brings new value. In his earlier work, Morris has highlighted the importance of focus, emphasizing strategic fit. In this book, Morris, Ma and Wu show how applying Agile principles in innovation can help create energy in execution, improve collaboration, increase speed and provide a better fit of the end result, thus increasing the yield of your innovation efforts. If you work in a company that is struggling and you suspect that bureaucracy and poor casting are part of the problem, this book will give you plenty of ideas and arguments to help your company to break out of the downward spiral. Up to you to read and lead!
- Rene van der Hulst, Principal partner ,in2lead Consulting amd Former VP Product Management GSM and UMTS, Lucent Technologies
Today's accelerated pace of change favors nimble organizations with ingrained innovation metrics. Agile Innovation provides the speedometer, odometer, the GPS and even provides automatic course corrections. Choices based on assumptions are giving way to evidence based decisions. Competitors with an innovation balance sheet have a distinct advantage. Agile Innovation guides the reader in measuring innovation velocity, innovation failure and success rates, and innovation efficiency.
-Warren Hebert, CEO , HomeCare Association of Louisiana
Langdon, Moses, and Po Chi really helps open the doors of possibility into the world of unchartered territories for any innovative mindset person. The most crucial element of that success is speed! We must not only think but act NOW!
- Sitthimet Solthong, Innovation Coach , Solitero Co.
There is a sense of urgency in healthcare, as we are undergoing historic and unprecedented changes with a desperate need for transformation. Incremental changes and traditional cost cutting strategies will not be adequate to meet the immediate and future healthcare needs of our country. The only solution to achieve the necessary transformation is large-scale innovation. The advances in technology and medicine are insufficient without the practices and principles of innovation described in Agile Innovation. We need high value innovations that improve health, reduce costs, and can be scaled to millions. This cannot be accomplished without a strong competency and understanding of true innovation. Thank you for the gifts and treasures in this book!
- Dora Barilla, PhD, Assistant Vice President Strategy and Innovation,Loma Linda University Health
This book is a must read for practitioners of innovation. The authors make a compelling case for why it's time to disrupt your own practice! You will find here a masterful and imminently practical guide to shaping the kind of organization capable of innovating at the ever-increasing speed of change. The principles of Agile Innovation can unleash the transformative potential from every corner of an organization, creating sustainable competitive advantage.
- Annie Donovan, CEO CoMetrics
We are thrilled to share with you that Agile Innovation has received over 50 advance testimonials from industry gurus, top venture capitalists, innovation experts and CEOs from around the world. Some highlights:
This thought-provoking and inspirational book is a must read for anyone seeking to master the art and science of innovation…
Jack Canfield, bestselling author of The Success Principles
As an advisor to hundreds of startups, I'm very interested in learning all I can to help foster innovation in rapidly shifting markets. Agile Innovation is a game changer, and addresses a lot of the deeper questions I've been considering. The authors have brought to us a valuable resource that is filled with pertinent case studies and practical advice. It's a body of work that's visionary and actionable at the same time, so it's valuable for the entire team, all the way from the CEO looking for an innovation master plan to scrum team participants seeking to realize the potential and promise of the Agile process. It's one of the best innovation books I've read in years and I think its approach can elevate the art and science of innovation at any organization.
